Kanye West Wins Shoe Of The Year Award For Yeezy Boosts

Kanye West’s Yeezy Boosts have nabbed him a major honor.

The rapper was awarded Shoe of the Year at Footwear News’ 29th Annual Achievement Awards on Wednesday night in New York City.

While accepting the prize for his Adidas Yeezy Boost 350s, West gushed about his family with wife Kim Kardashian, including sharing his excitement about the impending arrival of baby No. 2.

“I’m waiting on my son to arrive any day now and I look at my daughter and I look at my wife and she’s rich,” he joked in his speech. “And I don’t plan on being broke.”

He also made a sly joke about his infamous speech at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards, telling the audience, “If you don’t like 10-minute profanity-laden speeches that end in a presidential bid, I suggest you go to the bathroom now.”

With Kardashian’s due date only a few weeks away, the reality star couldn’t travel with him to celebrate his latest achievement. But she did issue a tweet congratulating her husband.

“So well deserved!” she tweeted. “Congrats babe on winning Shoe of the Year Award! I see how hard u work & how meaningful this is!”

West is only the second person to be honored with the Shoe of the Year Award, with Footwear News awarding him the prizefor having the "most-coveted, most-talked-about, most-recognized shoes this year."

Earlier this month, the "Jesus Walks" rapper debuted the coveted Yeezy Boost 350 Moonrock sneakers, which sold out in less than 24 hours.
