The outspoken rapper got emotional during a BBC Radio 1 interview with Zane Lowe Thursday when speaking about the late British fashion design professor, Louise Wilson.
"I didn't know we were going to lose her...and she told me, she said, you know, 'Thank you for the times where I came to performances and this has like really meant a lot to me, with...'" he said about his mentor, who passed away in May 2014.
West then covered his face as he broke down into tears.
Lowe suggested the 37-year-old rapper take a break from the sit-down.
"We'll take a minute," Lowe told him.
When West returned to his chair he said, "That's never happened to me in an interview before, I think I'm good."
The "Black Skinhead" singer also opened up about wanting to give his daughter North West a sibling.
"Oh, I'm practicing really hard,” West said. "I try as many times a day I can."
"Nori, This one is for you. You need a sibling,” he added.
The performer isn't the only one who wants to try for another bundle of joy.
West's wife, Kim Kardashian, shared at the E! International Press Junket in January that she really wants another baby as well.
"It's been more challenging to get pregnant the second time around," the "Keeping up with the Kardashians" star revealed. "When you're not planning it, it happens. It's just how God works. And when you want it so bad, it's not happening."
