The “Boyz n the Hood” director’s incident led to him being in a coma, according to TMZ.
The outlet — which said in its initial report that the incident was “mild” — also noted that his family is in the process of setting up a conservatorship for him. Singleton apparently had business projects in the works that his mother “wants to handle … and execute the settlement agreement.”
The 51-year-old’s rep confirmed to Page Six on Saturday that he was in the ICU after suffering a stroke in the hospital last Wednesday.
“On Wednesday, April 17th our beloved son/father, John Singleton, suffered a stroke while at the hospital,” a family statement read. “John is currently in the ICU and under great medical care.”
TMZ reported at the time that he checked himself into Cedars Sinai in Los Angeles after experiencing leg pain after a flight home from Costa Rica.
