John Legend Isn’t The ‘Perfect Spouse’

As Chrissy Teigen cuts back on drinking, her husband, John Legend, is right by her side.

“When she was thinking about how she wanted to drink less, we talked about it,” Legend told Cosmopolitan. “I just want to support her. I want her to be happy and to live the fullest, most awesome life she can, and I want us to do it together.”

The model, 31, confessed to the magazine earlier this month that she was “drinking too much.”

“I felt bad for making kind of an ass of myself to people that I really respected,” the mother to Luna, 1, said of her boozy behavior. “And that feeling, there’s just nothing like that. You feel horrible. It’s not a good look for me, for [husband] John [Legend], for anybody.”

Legend, 38, is sincere in his commitment to help his wife of four years. “Whenever she sets her mind to anything, I always tell her, ‘I want to support you and help you do it,’” he added.

Although the media paints an image of a happy couple, who vacations, takes glamorous photos and shares their life on social media, Legend cautions things aren’t always picture perfect.

“I don’t want to present myself as the ‘perfect spouse’ and I don’t want to present our relationship as the ‘perfect relationship’ because I don’t think anybody meets that definition,” he said. “I think it’s too much pressure to put on anyone.”
