Jay-Z Takes The SNL Stage In A Colin Kaepernick Jersey

Rapper JAY-Z didn’t bend the knee during the “Saturday Night Live” season premiere, but he did the next best thing.

The Brooklyn native paid tribute to former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s 2016 protest of the national anthem by wearing his number seven jersey onstage.

The black and white jersey had “Colin K” emblazoned on the back.

The rapper, whose real name is Shawn Carter, kicked off the 43rd season of the NYC sketch show as its musical guest, performing hits from his latest studio album, “4:44.”

Kaepernick’s act of protest against racial inequalities and police brutality against unarmed black men inspired athletes to follow suit, especially after President Trump urged NFL owners to fire players for refusing to stand during the national anthem.

The President then disparaged any athlete who protested in this manner as a “son of a b---h.”

Trump’s contentious remarks sparked a week-long social media war, with him tweeting more about football than hurricane-ravaged Puerto Rico.
