IN THE STREETS & ON THE WEB

Jay Z’s ‘Blueprint’ Has Returned To Apple Music

For many Jay Z fans, Tidal made its way to the list of music streaming services by default. But now, it looks like a few of the Brooklynite’s previous albums have surfaced on another streaming site. Apple Music has seen a resurrection of The Blueprint, The Blueprint 2: The Gift & The Curse and Blueprint 2.1 on their streaming services, Complex reports.

Though many have opted to buy the physical copy of their favorite album not available on Spotify or Apple Music, many have taken the more convenient route of subscribing to Tidal. No one knows for sure why Jay is allowing his music to be streamed, but many did notice the absence of some of his greatest hits in their streaming playlists.

Since Jay Z’s acquisition of Tidal, several music lovers have chosen to go with a more familiar or convenient option in Apple Music or Spotify. Although Tidal has seen a big increase in subscribers recently, it’s had trouble competing with other popular streaming services.

In the past months, there have been talks of Apple possibly buying out Tidal and even Mr. West tweeted his opinion saying, “Apple give Jay his check for Tidal now and stop trying to act like you Steve.” But to squash any reported negotiation talks, Apple Music executive Jimmy Iovine said, “We’re really running our own race, we’re not looking to acquire any streaming services.”

Although this is a good sign for Apple Music users, Hov still didn’t give streamers access to Reasonable Doubt, his first studio album, or The Blueprint 3.
