The $20 million JAY-Z mentions giving Kanye West in a new lyrical diss reportedly wasn't some sort of selfless offering to Yeezus, but rather part of their business agreement.
In a new song on his "4:44" album, JAY-Z cryptically notes that he gave $20 million to West without offering an explanation as for why.
But that whopping expenditure wasn't merely a gift to his longtime friend as the casual lyrics may suggest — but instead was an advance given by JAY-Z's Roc Nation label to help West cover production and staffing costs for his "Saint Pablo Tour," TMZ reported.
The advance was part of a deal that JAY-Z has with West, according to the gossip site, and the $20 million is said to be standard for artists of West's caliber ahead of concert tours.
JAY-Z seemed to address a fallout with West in his song "Kill Jay Z," which is the opening track on his new album that was released last Friday.
"You gave him 20 million without thinkin' /He gave you 20 minutes on stage, f--k was he thinkin'? /'F--k wrong with everybody?' is what you sayin' /But if everybody's crazy, you're the one that's insane," JAY-Z raps in the song.
The drama between West and JAY-Z comes six years after they released a critically acclaimed album called "Watch The Throne" together.
