INDIAN OPTOMETRIST CREATES DIAMOND & GOLD CONTACTS THAT COST $15,000 A PAIR!

These contacts are sure to make your eyes sparkle.

An Indian optometrist has the blind seeing gold with diamond-encrusted, gold-plated contact lenses, the Daily Mail reports.

At $15,000 a pair, the glitzy contacts come laden with 18 diamonds embedded in yellow or white gold.

Those with simpler taste can opt for a pair in just plain gold or white gold.

Created by Chandrashekhar Chawan of the Shekhar Eye Research Center, the contacts weigh 5 grams in total and can be customized to correct any visual impairment.

The bejeweled lenses are also designed to retain water and will not stop oxygen from reaching the eye, making them comfortable to wear, Chawan said.

Chawan said he was inspired by the jewels in his wife’s teeth to create the flashy eyewear.

Still, not everyone is a fan. In an interview with Today.com, Chawan admitted that some find the look to be a little over the top.

“I got mixed responses — some said its looks scary, but most of the people loved it,” he said. “Bollywood personalities loved the concept, that it’s going to be ‘in thing’ in fashion soon.

The optometrist said that although he plans to make a limited number of the pricey contacts – only 3,996 lenses – all profits will be used to fund treatment of people suffering from Stevens Johnson syndrome, a disease that affects tear glands and leads to a loss of vision.
