Reggie “Combat Jack” Ossé, a hip hop attorney turned podcast host, has died after a public battle with colon cancer. He was 48.
Ossé announced his ailment on Twitter on Oct. 23.
“Internets, what’s up? It’s your man Combat Jack. In 7 years of podcasting, I've never missed an episode. I got hit with some real life s-t. I was recently diagnosed with Colon Cancer,” he said.
Despite his illness, he vowed to bounce back.
"I was rushed to the hospital, had some pretty severe surgery. I'm on the mend right now. I'm about to jump on this journey to health with chemo and alternative medicine."
On his “Combat Jack Show” podcast, Ossé interviewed some of the biggest names in music, including Redman, Jeezy, Joe Budden, Common, Scarface, RZA, Angela Rye, Ice Cube, Jemele Hill, Michaeland Eric Dyson.
He got critical acclaim for an April podcast on Spotify called “Mogul: The Life and Death of Chris Lighty.”
The show delved into the life of the hip hop mogul who managed Diddy and Missy Elliot. Lighty shot himself in the head on the patio of his South Riverdale, Bronx, apartment on Aug. 30, 2012, after a heated argument with his estranged wife.
