Frank Ocean posted two cryptic shots of his footwear to his newly public Instagram account on Wednesday night, sparking rumblings amongst his fans that his long-rumored collaboration with Nike might not be so far off after all.
The 31-year-old musician’s first post of his DIY sneaker creation showed what appears to be the sole and straps taken from the super-rare $511 Tom Sachs x Nike Mars Yard Overshoe buckled around another Tom Sachs x Nike sneaker, the $300 Craft Mars Yard 2.0, which has taupe lace guards, a red swoosh and a red pull tab on the tongue.
The “Ivy” singer captioned the shot with a black astronaut emoji in tribute to Sachs, his longtime collaborator and famous artist in his own right. “Good work #brocolage,” Sachs commented on the post — likely a nod to the duo’s friendship as well as the word “bricolage,” an artistic term for something that’s constructed from a diverse array of available materials.
On the second image, the Grammy winner showed off another black pair of Nikes he’d deconstructed alongside the original pair. “Weird flex but ok,” Odd Future’s Yung Taco commented, prompting Ocean to reply, “just two shoes I mutilated.”
