You might not know it from her interviews, but Rihanna says she's more than ready to stop talking about her tumultuous relationship with ex Chris Brown.
When a follower tweeted the singer Sunday with the note, "I luv u bt it's time u stopped talking about the situation with chris in interviews. How r people gonna move on?," Rihanna agreed – strongly.
"People won't stop askin abt it!" the R&B artist wrote in reply. "Its f--kin annoying! Nobody wants to relive that, but some ppl can't respect that!"
She continued, "I get it, they wanna raise awareness to young girls! But it ends up just makin me look bitter, pitiful, spiteful and angry!"
The sentiments are somewhat surprising, given that Rihanna has indeed repeatedly spoken about the incident – in which she and Brown had a physical altercation in Feb. 2009. She even sang on the Eminem song, "Love the Way You Lie," which detailed an abusive relationship.
But now for the first time, Rihanna, 22, is publicly placing the blame on her interviewers, even though she evidently gave, for example, Marie Claire UK enough comments on the subject to fashion a cover story for their December issue.
In the mag, the singer explained how she "felt like an empty vessel" and "was very lost" during the relationship.
Still, she added, "I hate talking about it" and even said she's "over it."
So can everyone really "move on," as the fan asked?
Maybe not, as yet another Rihanna interview partly discussing Brown is about to hit newsstands.
In the January issue of British GQ, the singer discusses how she never imagined she would be the victim of domestic violence, but also shares how "it was so freeing" when she finally ended the relationship.
The "What's My Name" songstress acknowledges that her public image has changed because of her experiences, but points out, "I'm not like, 'Please cry for me, I've been in a bad relationship.' I hate that you know that and I don't want you to remember me for that. That's the defensive part of me."
"It's a moment in my life that I wish would disappear," Rihanna says. "In my head, it's already gone."
And it might be gone from Brown's, too.
Hours after Rihanna's tweets, he wrote one of his own, saying, "Y'all starting to sound extremely childish! #teambreezy and #rihannanavy It's pointless."
"Love team breezy & thank you rihannanavy for supporting ya girl," he added.
