Drake has angered his fans by referring to the mother of his child, Sophie Brussaux, as a “fluke” in a new track.
“Baby mama fluke, but I love her for who she is,” he raps in “When to Say When,” one of two tracks he released Saturday. The other track, “Chicago Freestyle,” did not contain any notable slights — unless, perhaps, you count referring to Chicago’s iconic Cloud Gate by its tourist-friendly nickname, “the Bean.”
Fans quickly voiced their displeasure with Drake, 33, for using a term more popularly applied to sports bloomers than humans, though others were quick to point out that “fluke” doesn’t necessarily have any negative connotations. Indeed, according to Oxford, “fluke” is defined as “An unlikely chance occurrence, especially a surprising piece of luck.”
Then there’s the other definition: “A parasitic flatworm which typically has suckers and hooks for attachment to the host. Some species are of veterinary or medical importance.” Yikes!
The world learned of Adonis, Drake’s son with Brussaux, in Pusha T’s instantly iconic diss track “The Story of Adidon,” in May 2018. Drake was revealed to have been supporting Brussaux financially shortly thereafter.
Drake and Brussaux are not a couple.
Brussaux and Adonis have largely stayed out of the spotlight since then, though Drake did post a picture his son drew for him in December of 2018, writing “Adonis > Picasso don’t @ me.”
