Erykah Badu Was Pulled Over In Dallas So Police Could ‘Say Hi’

Erykah Badu’s New Year’s Eve was interrupted by flashing red and blue lights — and for no good reason.

The singer posted an Instagram Sunday night after police pulled her over in Dallas.

Badu then pans the video to the driver side window, where two officers are bent over and smiling into the camera.

“I wanted to say hi,” one of the officers said.

Commenters called the run-in an abuse of power, including one person who replied that the officers were “totally unprofessional.”

“At least he didn’t shoot you,” wrote another.

Badu, who appeared to have a young child in the car with her, recently curated “Box Set 4” of the work of Fela Kuti, the Nigerian creator of Afrobeat.
