The inner workings of Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine’s massive empires will play out on the small screen in 2017. According to Entertainment Weekly, the careers of the longtime business partners will serve as the central focus of a four-part docu-series titled The Defiant Ones.
Airing on HBO, the program was helmed by Menace II Society director, Allen Hughes, and was pieced together over a three-year period. With interviews from legendary artists including Eminem, Nas, Snoop Dogg, and Bruce Springsteen, viewers will also witness unreleased visuals of studio meet-ups with U2, N.W.A, JJ Fad and more.
“Allen Hughes takes you on a journey through some of the most important flash points of popular culture, and I’m delighted that we can bring this unforgettable saga to our viewers,” said HBO Programming’s president, Casey Bloys.
Iovine and Dre have made historic strides in the world of music and business from the impact of Interscope/Aftermath Records and Beats electronics. Now, the world will see just how they solidified their place in the history books.
