A lovesick teenager jumped to his death from a building in Midtown Wednesday afternoon and hit a city bus on Sixth Ave. as he crashed to the ground, officials said.
The QM1 bus, empty except for a driver, was parked along Sixth Ave. near W. 36th St. when the suicidal 19-year-old smashed into the edge of its roof, a transit source said.
"It sounded like a gunshot when he hit the bus," said Larry Mainiero, 69, manager at My Daddy's Pizza on 36th St.
The teen, who sources said was distraught over a recent breakup, landed on the sidewalk on the east side of Sixth Ave.
A Fire Department source said emergency responders were sent to the scene following a 911 call at about 3:30 p.m., but the teen was dead. He has not been identified.
The bus was on a layover when the young man's body hit it, the transit source said. The impact left a large dent in the bus' exterior, according to a Daily News photographer at the scene.
The bus driver was not injured, but was "shaken up" by the frightening incident, the transit source said.

YOU HAVE TO LOVE YOURSELF MORE THAN YOU LOVE ANYBODY ELSE BECAUSE NOBODY IS WORTH YOUR LIFE! WITH SO MANY FISH IN THE SEA WHY KILL YOURSELF OVER ONE?
