Zach Galifianakis is not getting off his high horse anytime soon.
After reportedly having Mel Gibson ousted from "The Hangover 2," the bearded funnyman Zach Galifianakis got high on HBO's "Real Time with Bill Maher" Friday when he lit up a joint while talking about marijuana legalization.
During a discussion of Proposition 19 in California, a controversial ballot proposing the legalization of some marijuana activity, which comes to a vote on Tuesday, Galifianakis said he thought politicians were staying away from the issue because pot smoking is still seen as "taboo."
The "Hangover" star then whipped out a joint and lit up, sending the audience into hysterics while Maher and the other guests sat stunned.
Galifiankis took a puff and then passed the joint to fellow guest Margaret Hoover, a conservative television and radio commentator, who took a whiff and nodded knowingly that the cigarette was, in fact, stuffed with bud.
Hoover then tried to pass the join on to to baffled guest Reihan Salam, a conservative writer, who declined to take a tug, saying he was going to have to "pass the mic."
Hoover then passed the spliff back to Galifianakis, who continue to puff away as the show continued. MSNBC host Lawrence O'Donnell, the show's fourth guest, and Maher were not offered a toke during the impromptu smoke session.
Galifianakis, who stars in the HBO series "Bored to Death" and the film "Due Date," which opens on Nov. 5, raised some eyebrows last week when he made a tongue-in-cheek remark calling "Hangover" director Todd Phillips "the worst Jew in Hollywood" for firing troubled actor Mel Gibson from the film's sequel, The Daily News reported.
The joke was an apparent reference to Gibson's infamous racist rant to cops about Jewish people after he was busted for drunk driving in Los Angeles in 2006
