DaBaby Says He Went From $300,000 To $30,000 A Show After Homophobic Comments

DaBaby has revealed just how much his live show rate plummeted following homophobic comments he made in 2021. During a recent episode of the Million Dollaz Worth Of Game podcast released on Sunday (March 22), the Charlotte rapper revealed that prior to the controversy he was making in the region of $300,000 to $500,000 per show. "I had a calendar full of shows. 350K, 350K, 375K, 400K, 300K," he said around the 43:10 mark in the clip below. Following his contentious remarks, he said he "went back down to 30,000." When host Wallo267 asked if that rate deterred the rapper, DaBaby said: "No. I went and got that. In July 2021, at the height of his career, DaBaby performed at Rolling Loud Miami, where he made homophobic comments about HIV and AIDs that later affected his career. "If you didn’t show up today with HIV, AIDS, or any of them deadly sexually transmitted diseases that'll make you die in two to three weeks, then put your cellphone lighter up," he told the crowd. "Ladies, if your pussy smell like water, put your cellphone lighter up. Fellas, if you ain’t sucking dick in the parking lot, put your cellphone lighter up." When DaBaby faced immediate backlash, he doubled down in a series of Instagram Stories posts, writing: "The lights went up gay or straight, you wanna know why? 'Cause even my gay fans don’t got fucking AIDS, stupid-ass n***as." "They don’t get aids, my gay fans they take care of they self," he continued. "They ain’t no nasty gay n***as, see what I’m saying? They ain’t no junkies." Days later, the 34-year-old issued an apology in a statement shared to his social media channels. "I want to apologize to the LGBTQ+ community for the hurtful and triggering comments I made," he wrote. "Again, I apologize for my misinformed comments about HIV/AIDS, and I know education on this is important. Love to all. God bless."
