Courteney Cox and David Arquette - who met and fell in love on the set of the hit movie "Scream" - revealed yesterday that they have split.
The couple said their separation dates back some months.
"The reason for this separation is to better understand ourselves and the qualities we need in a partner and for our marriage," they said in a joint statement.
"We remain best friends and responsible parents to our daughter and we still love each other deeply."
Cox, 46, and Arquette, 39, have been married for 11 years - making them apparently one of Hollywood's more stable couples. They met in 1996 on the "Scream" set, and Cox gave birth to their daughter Coco in 2004.
This summer, the pair reunited on-set to shoot "Scream 4."
"It's nostalgic," Arquette told People magazine in June. "We met on 'Scream 1,' and on 'Scream 2' we were kind of on-and-off dating. And by 'Scream 3' we were married. And now on 'Scream 4' we have a child. It's sort of an amazing marker throughout our lives."
Life & Style reports that Arquette is already involved with another woman, bartender and aspiring actress Jasmine Waltz.
"Jasmine and David have been hooking up recently," a source told the tabloid.
Though Cox and Arquette had already separated quietly, TMZ reports they were forced to announce the split yesterday because photos have surfaced of Arquette with Waltz.
Waltz, 27 - who has had minor roles in "Bad Boys II" and "Pledge This!" - landed in the spotlight this summer when she was accused by Lindsay Lohan of punching the starlet in the face at L.A. hotspot Voyeur.
The star couple has dismissed breakup rumors for years.
In June, Arquette laughed off reports the couple was in trouble as they celebrated their 11th wedding anniversary. "You know, it's weird, because it turns up in the tabloids, and your friends start calling you like there's a problem," he told People. "There's nothing [wrong]. We have a really great, beautiful relationship."
