Chuck D Says Flavor Flav 'Took The Wrong Road' With Public Enemy Lawsuit

Flavor Flav is fighting the power in all the wrong ways, according to Chuck D.

Chuck D told TMZ that Flavor Flav’s lawsuit against him and their group Public Enemy was not the right way to approach things, but doesn’t fault him for trying.

“Flav HAS HIS rights, but took a wrong road on this,” the rapper told TMZ.

Chuck D explained that Flavor Flav is angry with the way a third party merchandiser is handling their items.

“We will be [TOGETHER]on a future stage,” Chuck D told TMZ. Addined that Flav “will again be embarrassed admitting on stage about the way it spun out. It’s always this way with him.”

Chuck D, whose real name is, Carlton Douglas Ridenhour, made the comments to the gossip site after having tweeted that he is beneath “TMZ drama.”

“Flav will be OK. TMZ Drama is beneath me considering our age,” he wrote. “It's low entertainment, but I definitely like to find those 50 he songs he wrote” — referencing the fact that their contributions might be equal, despite what Flav outlined in the suit.

In the lawsuit filed by Flav, born William Jonathan Drayton, Jr., he claims he is owed unpaid royalties and the use of his likeness on Public Enemy’s July album, “Nothing is Quick Like the Desert.”

It alleges that the group’s management and related companies “have for years attempted to minimize his role in the Public Enemy business.”

It is unclear how much Flav is requesting in the suit, but it is said to be determined during the trial.
