Chrisette Michele Regrets Performing At Trump’s Inaugural Ball

The singer who performed at Donald Trump's Inaugural Ball said she regrets her decision.

Chrisette Michele, who initially took the gig in hopes of being a "bridge" for a divided nation, told the Breakfast Club on Thursday morning that she was "wrong" to think she could deliver a message of hope.

"I regret everything that happened. I think that was a bad choice," she said.

"Oh, I knew that he wasn't a good choice for the presidency," Michele said after Charlamagne tha God said Trump's initial supporters have backed down now that he's become "progressively worse."

"That was something we all knew together. But there's always gotta be some sense of hope. Again, that stage, that message on that stage was the wrong time and the wrong place. And I apologize deeply for the people that I hurt," the R&B singer continued.

Michele, 34, declared that her heart was broken for the country after Trump won the election, but she still signed on for the reported $250,000 gig to a slew of backlash.

"I cry at the thought that Black History, American History might be in vain," the African-American New York native wrote on social media in January.

"Today, I hope that Great Moments begin in peaceful & progressive conversation," she wrote ahead of the Inauguration. "I am willing to be a bridge. I don't mind 'These Stones', if they allow me to be a voice for the voiceless."

"As I have said before, I performed the National Anthem at the inauguration for my country and out of respect for the office. I would still perform for any President that asks me as I believe it is an honor to sing for our country," Evancho told The News in a statement.

"However, 10 months later, I am very disappointed with decisions the President has made especially related to transgender rights. I even asked him for a meeting to discuss transgender rights and he has not yet granted me a meeting even after he said he was open to it," she continued. "I had hoped he'd be a bit more willing with meeting me seeing as how I performed for my country at his inauguration."

Evancho has been outspoken in her advocacy for transgender rights along with her transgender sister, Juliet.
