Halle Berry wasn't out of work for very long.
CBS cancelled her series, "Extant," Friday after two seasons, but immediately announced that the network was developing another vehicle for the Oscar winner.
"Legalese," written and executive produced by "The Good Wife" veteran Steven Lichtman, will star Berry as a bi-racial lawyer partnered with a "good ol' boy white attorney" on a case in New Orleans.
Still, it's an abrupt end for a high-profile series like "Extant," a show that was once highly touted with both Berry as a lead and Steven Spielberg attached as a producer.
Despite a major creative overhaul for the show in Season 2, the ratings plummeted more than 30% from the first season, according to Nielsen.
"This season seemed such a natural place to end Molly's journey that I, along with CBS, felt it best served the story to leave it there," Berry said in a statement. "It was my first foray into episodic television, and I'm excited to continue my relationship with CBS, producing more compelling stories through my 606 Films production banner."
