Birdman’s $50 Million Lawsuit Against Jay Z and Tidal Dismissed

It looks like Birdman might have been bluffing, or at least just testing the waters, when he sued Jay Z and his streaming service Tidal for placing Lil Wayne’s Free Weezy Album on the site last year.

A judge recently dismissed the case in court after the Cash Money Records CEO failed to follow through with the suit.

The case, which was brought forth in July of 2015, has been in limbo for the last nine months, but is now over and done with. “No Cash Money lawsuit was ever served and therefore it was dismissed before it was ever started,” a rep for Tidal recently told Rolling Stone about the situation.

The Rich Gang head honcho was initially trying to dig in Hov’s pockets for a smooth $50 million after he streamed Weezy’s LP on his new music service. Released on July 4, 2015, FWA was made in protest of Birdman’s refusal to drop Wayne’s long-awaited Tha Carter 5. Clearly feeling slighted, Birdman put his lawyers on the job arguing that Wayne and Jigga’s move violated the terms of Tune’s contract.

This whole situation went down in the middle of Lil Wayne and Birdman’s beef and only seemed to add fuel to the fire. The two men have since made amends in the public eye, having been seen partying together on multiple occasions. But, according to Mannie Fresh things still aren’t all good between Birdman and Birdman Jr.
