It was starting to look like Birdman and Lil Wayne were close to an agreement. The former Cash Money partners were reportedly settling their extensive legal battle, but Birdman decided to call off all negotiations regarding the lawsuit, after Lil Wayne pulled one last stunt dissing his former mentor.
According to TMZ, sources close to the situation confirmed that both legal parties were one meeting away from reaching a deal, when Lil Wayne decided to slide one last diss in. During Tunechi’s LA show earlier in November, the rapper changed around the lyrics in his single, “I’m Me.” The song originally had a line that shouted out his former label Cash Money, but Weezy subbed it out for a Jay Z and Roc Nation shout out, in light of his strained relationship with his former mentor. Wayne followed that subtle diss by saying “Suck my d*ck!” at the same show, according to video footage.
Lil Wayne and Birdman’s relationship is already past the point of repair. When Weezy was asked if there was a chance of him ever reconciling with Birdman during in interview with HipHollywood, the rapper replied, “I’m 34 baby, I’m too old for friends … His last name isn’t Carter, baby. He’s not family.” A friendship may be out of the way, but in order to settle their $51 million lawsuit, both parties will have to stop slandering each other in the media.
