Beyoncé Officially Joins Live-Action ‘Lion King’

Beyoncé will finally be queen.

Queen B has officially been cast as Nala in the live-action “Lion King” remake, Disney announced Wednesday.

The rest of the cast includes Donald Glover as Simba, James Earl Jones as Mufasa (reprising his 1994 role), Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, Alfre Woodard as Simba’s mother Sarabi, John Oliver as Zazu, John Kani as Rafiki, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa, Billy Eichner as Timon, Eric André as Azizi, Florence Kasumba as Shenzi, Keegan Michael Key as Kamari, JD McCrary as young Simba and Shahadi Wright Joseph as young Nala.

“It is a director's dream to assemble a talented team like this to bring this classic story to life,” director Jon Favreau said in a statement.

There was early speculation that Beyoncé would also record music for the film, scored by Hans Zimmer, but there’s no word on her participation yet.

“The Lion King” will open July 19, 2019.
