Settle down, boys!
Just as it was announced yesterday that Jay-Z's "Empire State of Mind" hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, his former protégé — and current enemy — Beanie Sigel tried to make sure Hova wasn't in the mood to celebrate. The rotund rapper immediately took to fellow artist 50 Cent's Web site to take a few shots at Beyoncé's man.
Jay has been feuding with Sigel since earlier this year, when Sigel claimed that his 2007 album, "Solution," flopped because it didn't receive proper promotion from Roc-A-Fella Records — the label owned by Jay-Z.
The beef isn't over yet. Sources at a party for Ford Motors' Taurus Top Ten in Philly on Wednesday night claim that Sigel is gearing up for an even bigger battle.
"[Our problems] are going to be addressed in my next album," he said to friends while playing a game of pool.
But partygoers, and the rest of the world, for that matter, didn't have long to wait. The footage that appeared yesterday on thisis50.com featured Beanie in a home studio in New Jersey mimicking a verse from Jay's "Almost Home," but with his own lyrics.
"I'mma shine on my own," the rapper spat. "I'm a star already/ Lost the Best of Both Worlds/ He could've called R. Kelly."
He goes on to refer to Jay as "petty" and the "type to feed no workers."
This isn't the first time Sigel has dissed his former mentor through his lyrics. He first, and most publicly, addressed the feud when he dropped "What You Talkin' Bout" on Oct. 30. In the tune, Sigel claims Jay had him kicked out of his Madison Square Garden concert on Sept. 11 — and he went on to repeat the same claim in several radio interviews.
