Ashley Taylor Gerren, star of BET show “Baldwin Hills,” has passed away. The 30-year-old died in her sleep at 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, Essence reported. The LA native was professionally known as Gerren Taylor.
Her cause of death is as yet unknown, however, Essence reported that it may have been related to the reality TV show star’s battle with the autoimmune disease lupus as she was reportedly on dialysis at the time of her death.
“Just got the worst news,” Ray Cunningham of VH1’s “Love and Hip-Hop” wrote on Twitter of his friend’s passing. “RIP to my @BET fam, my babes Gerren (Baldwin Hills).”
On Instagram, the television personality — who goes by Misster Ray — posted further details about the pair’s friendship. “I’ve known @mstaylorxo since 2006, the #BaldwinHills cast was like the little sisters and brothers to #CollegeHill I was sneaking her into parties with me She was one of the first people to reach out to me when I shared my alopecia diagnosis and she shared her’s with me. I love u. You will be missed. BET fam Rest well love,” he wrote, along with a video of the two in Woodland Hills, California.
The final photo Taylor posted to her Instagram grid on March 29 has become a space for grief since her passing, with numerous colleagues commenting on it in mourning.
“Love you always!” wrote model Nia Riley.
“Rest in Power Queen,” wrote producer Suzi Analogue.
Taylor began her career at age 12 after a talent scout recruited her to become the youngest-ever model signed to LA Models’ runway division. She also appeared in the 2007 documentary “America Is Beautiful.”
Taylor was featured on 24 episodes of “Baldwin Hills” from 2007 to 2009, according to IMDb.
She leaves behind a 7-year-old daughter.
