Up-and-coming Atlanta rapper Bankroll Fresh was murdered Friday night outside his recording studio.
Authorities say the 28-year-old rapper, whose real name was Trentavious White, died after getting hit in a spray of bullets outside of his Street Execs studio in northwest Atlanta.
Police recovered 50 shell casings at the scene,
but it's unclear if anyone else was hurt, local network Fox 5 reported.
Bankroll Fresh started rapping in 2006 with the release of a series of mixtapes featuring his distinctive “crooked flow and raspy voice,” according to his Spotify bio.
The “Walked In” rapper collaborated with well-known artists like 2 Chainz—also from Atlanta—Whiz Khalifa, Juicy J, Big Sean and Future, some of whom who eulogized him on Twitter.
“Man I’m a fan of Bru and always will be, I’m in shock at the moment !! Senseless deaths we just got to stop it, I’m speaking up now,” 2 Chainz tweeted after hearing the news.
“rip Fresh, feel like I lost a brother,fr...” Mike Will Made-It, who produced his mixtapes, posted on Twitter.
Bankroll Fresh was referred to as “one of Atlanta’s newest, truest originals” in a January Fader magazine profile of the artist.
Police have yet to name any suspects or declare a motive in the rapper’s murder.
