Curtis (50 Cent) Jackson nearly shed a tear in an attempt to land a role in the 2007 film “American Gangster,” a far cry from the hard-core rapper the world is used to seeing.
In the audition tape revealed by Defamer, Jackson can be seen acting out a few scenes for the part that “12 Years A Slave” star Chiwetel Ejiofor landed.
In an awkwardly silent portion of the tape, 50 Cent stares into the distance for several seconds as he tries to dig up the emotions needed to properly portray a broken man.
The role was one of Denzel Washington’s character Frank Lucas’ brothers, who was a lieutenant in his drug cartel.
Jackson’s agents at the time, Joanna Wiles and Dana Sims, who worked for William Morris when the tape was submitted, were reportedly responsible for the audition that leaves much to be desired.
Good thing he has Vitamin Water.
