Teyana Taylor Enrolls In Culinary School

Teyana Taylor has officially entered culinary school the New York native, 34, took to her Instagram to reveal the news Saturday (June 12). Scored to GloRilla’s “Let Her Cook,” the clip finds Taylor rocking her apron and chef’s hat as she celebrates her first day of classes with eldest daughter, 9-year-old Iman Tayla “Junie” Shumpert Jr. “Went into my first day of Culinary school with a banggggggg! s/o to my Twinskiiiiiii Junebuggggggg!,” Taylor began before sharing how much cooking meant to her coming up in Harlem. “Cooking and baking have always been more than just hobbies for me; they’ve been my passion, my peace, my therapy. Since I was a little girl, I remember being glued next to whoever was in the kitchen while the other kids played around! Lol watching all the amazing women in my life cook all our favorite meals with so much love and joy. I must say I def got a cooking a** family lol That’s where it all started. “And by the time I was 13/14, I was the “hood Betty Crocker” in Harlem baking cakes for the neighbors and anyone who asked,” she revealed. “Ya girl was ah hustlaaaaaahhhh & that spark never left me. She went on to call the kitchen her “safe space” while going through life’s trials and tribulations, adding that she’s always wanted to pursue a degree in the culinary and pastry arts, but didn’t have the time due to, “my crazy work schedule, mommy life and simply life, life’nnnnnn lol, but honestly finding my way back and going to school at this time is important because it’s the time where I get to show up for me. No matter how hectic life gets, I find comfort in the rhythm of it all—the chopping, the stirring, the creating. Taylor then thanked friend Alexis Stoudemire for introducing her to a great school and, “convincing me to get up and get to it.“Turning dreams into reality hits different when you’ve been dreamer and a prayer warrior,” she went on. “I’m emotional, in the best way. So grateful that our father God, in the name of Jesus, continues to guide me and allow me to check off these goals, one by one.
