Nicki Minaj has countless accolades under her belt, and she’s now in a place where she doesn’t have to accept every opportunity presented to her. The Queens, N.Y., native recently revealed she declined an invitation to join The Recording Academy, the professional organization best known for hosting The Grammys. “At one point, the Grammys asked me to be on the board. I appreciated it,” the “Super Bass” shared with her listeners. “That it was a very, very, very kind gesture but my integrity couldn’t allow me to accept it. This was before the release of Pink Friday 2. She went on to explain that although she saw the offer as “kind,” she didn’t fully align with the organization and ultimately chose to decline. “My integrity couldn’t allow me to sit on the board of something that made absolutely no sense to me and to anyone that understands,” she said. “So, I said no. I thought it was kind of them to try. Why would I be sitting on the board if I don’t have a Grammy?
