Montell Jordan overcame a bout with prostate cancer this year and credited his survival to early detection as well as his faith. The “This Is How We Do It” singer said “You wanna catch it before it catches you.” On his 56th birthday (Dec. 3), Jordan revealed that he was diagnosed with “early Stage 1” prostate cancer back in January. “Early detection helped save my life,” he wrote in the video message where he also mentioned that he’s been documenting the entire journey. After he “researched and reviewed all options [and] prayed hard,” he opted to undergo a prostatectomy and shared his testimony one month after the surgery. “Once [his prostate was] removed, there was more cancer found in what was removed,” Jordan confessed in the initial video. “It was more aggressive. It was undetected. It was more like Stage 2, but they got it all.” He noted, “Jesus saved my soul. Early detection helped save my life […] I am now cancer free.
