Kobe Bryant’s Childhood Friend Kevin Sanchez Calls Him A “Piece Of Sh*t”

Kobe Bryant‘s former friend Kevin Sanchez, has labeled the late athlete “a piece of sh*t.” During an interview with Blood on the Razor Wire, Sanchez opened up about his complicated friendship with Bryant, recalling a moment when he was released from prison and needed to get back on his feet. Kevin claims he waited outside in the rain for the Los Angeles Lakers bus to arrive at their practice facility in Philly to talk to Kobe. After a “weird” conversation, the athlete allegedly gave him his number and told him he would be in touch. “Look man, I don’t want no hand-outs, I don’t want no money, I don’t want sh*t,” he claims he told the NBA great. “Here’s what I need you to do…all I want to do is go back with you, you get me out there in LA somewhere, put me with somebody where I can make my own money, you just get me in and I’m working for somebody on something, a business, anything to benefit myself. I don’t want nothing free, I don’t want to do nothing but work for it. Sanchez also suggested joining Bryant’s security team. “We was super tight, there’s no reason he wouldn’t do this for me,” he added. However, the number Bryant gave Kevin led to an assistant, and Bryant never spoke directly to him again. “This is when I really found out he was a piece of sh*t,” Sanchez recalled.Later, Sanchez claimed to have spoken to one of the icon’s cousins during his last game. Kevin claimed his cousin echoed his sentiments of Bryant being a “piece of sh*t.” His cousin also alleged that Bean “never did nothing for nobody”—including his family members. Kobe and Kevin go back years, with Sanchez being an integral part in Bryant’s old rap aspirations. The two met at Lower Merion High School after Kobe returned from living abroad in Italy. Anthony Bannister introduced the two after adding them both to his rap group that became CHEIZAW. Sanchez “[molded] Bryant into an MC,” but unfortunately, their dreams as a rap group were derailed. In July 1996, Sanchez was mistaken for another man who robbed a 7-Eleven, and was arrested. Kevin claimed that he was rapping with Bannister, Kobe, and the crew during the robbery, but he was still identified as the robber. The publication reported that Kobe and Kevin remained in contact before his September 1998 trial. Bryant was also responsible for posting his bail and even appeared at Sanchez’s preliminary hearing. The trial went on for two days. Kobe paid for Bannister to fly to the trial to testify, but the athlete was a no-show himself Five eyewitnesses failed to identify Kevin, but he was still found guilty and sentenced to 5 to 10 years in prison. The outlet reports that a juror told him that Bryant’s testimony could’ve swayed the jury. And in 2013, Sanchez said he didn’t blame Bryant. “It wasn’t Kobe’s fault I went to jail. I don’t blame him,” he recalled. “We didn’t think we’d need him. It was a false ID. There was no way we were going to lose.
