Young Thug is no longer in jail, the YSL RICO trial and his subsequent probation sentence have imposed multiple limitations on him that continue to this day. The Atlanta rapper may soon regain possession of numerous pieces of property that were confiscated during his arrest and subsequent litigation. The 34-year-old artist’s legal team recently claimed that the state failed to hold a forfeiture hearing within the 60 days granted to do so, in a newly filed motion There was initially a stay on the hearing, but a court order lifted that on April 1, starting the 60-day countdown toward dismissal.Thug’s legal team claims that they were not made aware of the stay being lifted until Aug. 12, which is well past the June 2 deadline for the forfeiture hearing, and even an Aug. 12 deadline if an extra 60 days were considered. Instead, the hearing was set for this past Monday (Aug. 18). The state did not request a timely continuance; they pushed for dismissal, and a Fulton County Superior Court Judge Paige Reese Whitaker ruled in their favor.Property that was taken from Thug includes $150,000 in cash, a 2022 Chevrolet Corvette, a 2022 Porsche 911, three Mercedes-Benz vehicles, a Jeep Grand Cherokee, a 2018 Lamborghini, several guns, and assorted jewelry. The Fulton County District Attorney’s office has the opportunity to appeal the ruling and has prepared a few arguments. Thug will not get his property back until a decision is made in the potential appeal. In a response filed on Aug. 14, the DA’s office claimed that it was Thug’s legal team who requested the initial continuance on May 5 due to a scheduling conflict with a federal case in New York. In essence, Thug’s side gave their approval of rescheduling the hearing outside of the 60-day window so they can’t double back to try to dismiss it.
