City kids are getting a snow day.
The Education Department, expecting a whopper of a snow storm overnight, has already decided to shutter city public schools Wednesday.
In addition, all after-school activities and sports events will also be cancelled.
Since the city is expecting more than a foot of snow, officials said they didn't want to take any chances.
"While travel conditions to school in the morning may not be difficult, the weather is expected to worsen as the day progresses, complicating dismissal," said an Education Department spokesman.
Officials are worried that buses could get stuck as the city is blanketed by the second snow storm in a week.
The early decision was made, officials said, to give parents as much time as possible to make other arrangements.
