WTH! CARMELO ANTHONY OUT FOR 2 WEEKS WITH A STRAINED GROIN!

The Knicks got some bad news on Carmelo Anthony Tuesday, announcing that their All-Star forward will be out approximately 1-2 weeks with a strained right groin.

That means that Anthony, the team's top scorer, could miss up to eight games if he has to sit out through the Knicks' game Feb. 20 against the Nets.

The team updated Anthony's status as it started practice. He was injured Monday night in the Knicks' win over Utah.

The Knicks will go for their third straight win Wednesday in Washington against the Wizards.

Anthony is averaging 22.3 ppg. He has missed three of the team's 25 games with ankle, thumb and wrist injuries.

The Knicks are also playing without Amar'e Stoudemire for an unspecified amount of time. Stoudemire returned to Florida Monday to be with his family after his brother was killed in a car accident early Monday.
