WTF! TWITTER GOT HACKED BY THE IRANIAN CYBER ARMY! IT WAS DOWN FOR ALMOST AN HOUR!

OMG! Twitter was taken down!
Hackers calling themselves the "Iranian Cyber Army" briefly brought down the popular microblogging service early Friday morning, CNN reports.

Users hoping to tweet were reportedly redirected to a Web page that bore a green flag and read, "This site has been hacked by the Iranian Cyber Army."

CNN was unable to obtain a comment from Twitter representatives on the outage -- but the company did tweet a reaction on its account.

"Twitter's DNS records were temporarily compromised but have now been fixed. We will update with more information soon," the post read, according to CNN.

The outage lasted for nearly an hour.

It is uncertain whether the hackers are, in fact, connected in any way to Iran.

During last summer's disputed elections in Iran, opposition organizers in the heavily censored country used Twitter and other social networking tools to draw the world's attention to the government's violent response to rallies and protests.
