WTF! THE NYPD HAS INSTALLED PORTABLE TOWERS CALLED SKYWATCH TO WATCH YOUR EVERY MOVE!

The New York Post explains: "Without fanfare, the NYPD has begun installing Sky Watch, an eye in the sky mounted on a tower, The Post has learned.

The Sky Watch, about two stories tall, consists of a booth for a cop that stands atop a tower that collapses when the officer is ready to leave.

The booth, which gives the cop a line of sight from 20 feet up, has four cameras, a high-powered spotlight and various sensors. The digital cameras, which continue recording when the booth is unstaffed, save the video to a hard drive."

Well, sonofab----! Every time Philadelphia takes one Lilliputian step forward, adding street surveillance cameras in select areas, New York pulls a Gulliver and takes a giant step ahead, adding Holy Jesus walking towers with cops, cameras and, presumably, a 6-CD changer with Dolby Surround Sound.

But it's not just New York beating Philly to the punch by embracing those Storm Trooper towers. The Post says US Border Patrol and cities like Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Dallas and Fort Worth are using the two-story tons o' fun, which cost $40,000 to $100,000 a pop.

New York police say the towers have been helpful, aiding them in criminal hotspots like Crown Heights. Memo to John Street: can we please, please, please borrow $40,000? I know we're cash strapped and all -- we just splurged $1 billion or so a few years ago on those ultra-necessary stadiums -- but c'mon, man! Can you imagine how much fun it would be to ride around in one of those things?
