A Michigan man faces up to 10 years in jail if he's convicted of biting off his estranged wife's eyelid.
The grisly incident happened during a Mother's Day argument, when the unidentified victim and Rahsaan Lavonte Thedford got into an argument after she told him to leave her house, according to the Detroit News.

Instead, he punched her in the face and head and bit her eyelid before chasing after her with a steak knife and threatening to kill her, the newspaper said.

"In 18 years, I have never had a case like this," St. Clair Shores Police Detective Margaret Eidt said. "I was floored when they assigned it to me. It was absolutely heinous, like Hannibal Lecter.

The woman ran away, and Thedford was quickly nabbed by police

The victim is now receiving care for her injury - and Thedford is being held on a $100,000 bond

The two separated earlier this year after the woman's 17-year-old daughter was assaulted by Thedford

The incident isn't the only Lecter-inspired incident this week. In Georgia, a woman said a man knocked her down and bit her neck before stealing her car.
