Wtf! Man Spikes Fiancée’s Sweet Tea With Rat Poison

A Mississippi man tainted his fiancée’s sweet tea with rat poison in a desperate murder bid following a falling out, police said.

The woman survived and will be OK, authorities said, but the incident landed 44-year-old Melvin Lee Moore behind bars in Marshall County on an attempted murder charge.

Cops say Moore, just four months after getting engaged, spiked the woman’s Arizona Ice Tea can with the toxin before handing it over for her to drink April 6.

The poison, which can cause seizures and sickness, often tastes sweet and the victim instantly realized something was wrong.

She said the tea tasted of Kool-Aid and authorities say she’s lucky to have gotten help quickly.

"She said, 'I need you to go get your phone and don't make it seem like something's going on. Do not go back inside the house,'" the victim's daughter told WMC-TV. "She drunk some and her tongue started going numb and her heart started going fast and that's when she looked in the can. Nobody ever thought he would do something like that."

The now-former couple, engaged since Christmas, had grown up together, the victim’s daughter added. But they’d recently had a falling out when he refused to do chores and was kicked to the curb.

He’d been an important and loved part of the family, never missing the victim’s daughter’s birthday, the girl told the station.

"I just want to know why, that's it. Just tell me why,” the girl told WMC. “She never hurt you. She was there for you more than your family."

Moore is held on $1 million bond at the Marshall County Jail.
