IN THE STREETS & ON THE WEB

Two parents in China have decided to lower the driving age – for their 4-year-old daughter.
In a video that's gone viral around the globe, the Chinese tot appears to be driving a car while her parents give her directions.

The pigtailed cutie seems to be quite adept to the task – especially for her age – even slowing to a stop behind a turning car and steering around it.

She even appears at times to be steering in the center of the road.

The steering wheel does seem to be a bit large for her, but the daring parents fit extensions to the brake and accelerator pedal to allow her to drive the vehicle.

At the end of her joy ride, she steers the car over to the side and gets out of the driver's seat – and pops a pacifier back into her mouth.

The stunt, while it may be adorable, has many people alarmed. But local official Li Xiaobin told Orange.uk that there wasn't much they could do – even if they tracked down the family.

Drivers under 14 can't be given tickets. He did not say if the stunt fell under any laws against child endangerment.

"If we caught them, we could only educate the parents,” the official said. “In the worse scenario, if an accident happened, we could only ask the parents as guardians to compensate the other parties."
