Bret Carr knows that his mom loved him more than her dog.
And now he's saying that his heiress mother -- who left millions of dollars in cash to her beloved pooches instead of to him -- was manipulated by her staff.
Conchita, a pet Chihuahua, and two other dogs were left with a $3 million trust fund and a Miami Beach mansion by their recently deceased owner, Gail Posner.
Her staff, including bodyguards, housekeepers and a personal trainer, received a grand total of $27 million, including $10 million to one bodyguard and $5 million to a housekeeper who takes care of the pups.
“They saw a frail woman who was vulnerable, who had a delusional ego. She thought she was a movie star,” Carr said on NBC’s “Today” show.
Carr, who got a measly $1 million in comparison, has sued the estate, claiming his 67-year-old mother was drugged and brainwashed into signing over the cash.
“Slowly, they got into her world,” Carr said. “And they saw, ‘Okay, it’s working, and it’s growing,’ and they completely took advantage.”
Carr said the staff took advantage of his mother by starting a campaign that presented Conchita as the “world’s most pampered dog.” The spoiled pooch had her own bedroom and bathroom, a $15,000 Cartier necklace and weekly spa treatments.
The aides, Carr claimed, also convinced Posner that Tom Cruise was coming to visit and that she would be featured on national magazines.
Carr, a filmmaker, revealed a video he took on his camera phone in 2008 in which the staff is shooing him out of the house while his mother begs him to stay.
“They’re trying to control you,” he says to Posner. She replies “Oh, I know.”
Carr, who said he was estranged from his mother for years, reunited with her on her deathbed. Posner died of cancer, and Carr is the only surviving child.
Carr’s attorney, Alan Kluger, is trying to overturn the will.
“He’s the natural object of her affection,” Kluger said. “He’s her son. All relationships are rocky, all moms and sons have fights, but this is her son, and she loved him.”
