An NYPD sergeant at the center of the Brooklyn South Narcotics scandal was acquitted Thursday of corruption charges but convicted of official misconduct.
The split verdict from a Brooklyn judge means Michael Arenella won't go to prison for 25 years, but he will lose his job.
The cop supervised a rogue team of narcs on the midnight shift who were charged with stealing crack and cash from drug dealers to pay off informants.
Arenella, 32, was charged with conspiring with dirty cop Jerry Bowens to rip off an undercover officer posing as a drug dealer in a sting operation.
He was snared by the Internal Affairs Bureau after drug addict Barbara Lenahan - an informant known as The Blond - ratted out the dirty cops.
In a bench trial, Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Gustin Reichbach found him not guilty of sale and possession of narcotics.
He also acquitted him of falsifying police reports, but convicted him of dummying up another.
Arenella did not beat a petty larceny rap for $40 taken from the undercover cops and given to Lenahan - but was acquitted of giving her two bags of stolen crack.
The misconduct charge carries up to a year in prison and automatic dismissal from the force. Arenella was suspended without pay after the verdict.
The 10-year veteran didn't stick around to get word of his suspension from IAB investigators, holed up in a conference room. "F--- 'em," he said as he went into the elevator.
The government's case against Arenella took a big hit when Bowens - supposed to be the star prosecution witness - went berserk and murdered his ex-girlfriend in March.
Defense lawyer Andrew Quinn put distance between his client and Bowens. "The verdict shows the prosecutors failed to connect Mr. Arenella to Jerry Bowens," Quinn said.
