A Pennsylvania couple tried one novel way to keep their wedding on budget.
Cops say the newlyweds stole more than $1,000 in groceries last week to serve at their wedding reception just a few hours after tying the knot.
Brittany Lurch and Arthur Phillips III, who married on Aug. 18, made a pit stop after the ceremony at a Wegmans grocery store. Once there, they were caught on surveillance tape loading a cart with $1,049.26 in merchandise, the Centre Daily reported.
They then left the store without paying.
The money-saving strategy didn't work -- the couple was quickly arrested and thrown in jail.
They were charged with misdemeanor counts for theft and stolen property, according to the paper, and Phillips was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia when police discovered a pipe with marijuana residue in his car.
Police say the duo admitted shoplifting the items for their reception, which they weren't ultimately able to attend - they were forced to spend the night behind bars.
