A Brooklyn man accused of raping a woman he kept as a sex slave had a chilling list of penalties for her - including flogging and chaining her to a radiator - if she disobeyed his rules, prosecutors said Friday.

John Hopkins, 45, pleaded not guilty in Brooklyn court to a litany of charges after prosecutors detailed the graphic "master" and "slave" relationship he had with a 27-year-old Midwestern woman who came to live with him last month.

Hopkins "set up slave rules," prosecutor Christopher Laline said. "He punished her if she disobeyed."

Aside from flogging and chaining her, the penalties included forcing her to drink water and barring her from the bathroom, and sexual molesting her, the prosecutor said. "This is a henious crime," Laline said of the 62-count indictment.

After a week, the victim, who was working at an elite sushi restaurant, told her mother she was being held captive, prompting a call to police.

The defendant claims it was kinky role-play, pointing to emails where his alleged victim asks for the exact treatment she got. He kicked her out at one point because she was drunk and crazed, his lawyer said, but she asked to return.

"I cannot imagine there will be a conviction here," said Hopkins' lawyer Andrew Stoll, asking the judge to lower the $350,000 bail.

"I'm not denying that at some point and some time this abuse and torture was consensual," Supreme Court Justice Patricia DiMango said when refusing the request.

"There comes a time when [such actions] are not playful fun anymore and they become dangerous, criminally dangerous."
