WTF! BLACK MALE WORKERS @ A FISH STORE IN BROOKLYN SAY'S THEY WERE RACIALLY & SEXUALLY HARASSED BY THEIR MALE BOSSES!

They were there to sell fish - but a group of black workers said they became the meat.
The feds filed suit Monday against a family-run fishmonger in Brooklyn charging bosses with racially and sexually harassing male employees - and even jabbing workers in the buttocks with fish hooks.

Sunu Chandy, a lawyer for the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, said most of the abuse was directed at black workers by their white bosses at M. Slavin & Son's fish processing plant in Brownsville.

"The stunning facts of this case remind us of an ugly time in our nation's history," Chandy said.

The suit, filed in Brooklyn Federal Court, says black workers were subjected to racial jokes and slurs - including the n-word.

Court papers say company owner Mitchell Slavin ordered an employee to "Go get it, n-----."

The allegations against three other company officials are also disturbing. Barry and Jack Slavin and Julio Pereira are accused of "regularly grabbing or pinching male employees' buttocks and pushing their penises against employees' buttocks, and [manager] Chuck Clayton frequently jabbing fish hooks into male employees' buttocks."

Chandy said the allegations were brought to EEOC's attention by employee Kevin Pierson and have been corroborated by several others.

Several current and former black workers interviewed outside the Belmont Ave. plant yesterday said the charges are true.

"There was a lot of messing," said ex-worker Ben Ratley, 31, who was fired in 2004 and claims he received a $10,000 settlement after suing for discrimination.

Another worker said he had not heard of anyone poked with a fish hook nor had he encountered any racism: "The bosses are always going to be a bit rough - it's Brooklyn, it's rough," he said.

"The company vehemently denies the allegations," said Greg Riolo, a lawyer for M. Slavin, a century-old business that is a major supplier of fish to area restaurants and supermarkets.

"They're prepared to defend the case in court."
