Tyrese is a monster and is having a monster year.
His new single, "Stay" has shot to the top of the most requested charts from just three tweets. Not only does this show the power of social media, it also proves Tyrese's music career is BAAACKKK!!! And we love it!
GlobalGrind founder Russell Simmons called into the office this afternoon to share his excitement about the record.
"I was driving in the car and Rev put on the record. I always have said that you can throw a great record out the window and it will become a hit." Russell said. "You can escape a good record, but no way you can escape a great record. Tyrese made a great record. And not only did he make a great record, he has agreed to be honored next year at my annual benefit, Art For Life ... and even told me he would sing as well. This has made my day!"
Rev. Run added, "This the year of Tyrese."
With the super success of Fast Five and Transformers 3 and now with two hit singles, Tyrese has a lot to be happy about in 2011.
We caught up with Tyrese after Russell and Rev. Run shared their enthusiasm, and he told us, "The record was born out of pain. My ego and my pride wouldn't let me beg my girlfriend early enough to stay. I waited too long..."
Well ... she might not have stayed, but Tyrese got a hit record out of it.
Congrats on all your success this year and beyond!
