A 34-year-old Maryland woman died after getting a butt lift in a Queens basement from an apparently unlicensed doctor, police said Tuesday.
Kelly Mayhew and her mother drove to New York from Maryland on Saturday and arrived about 5 p.m. at a two-family home on Dickens St., where they waited for a woman who had been contacted by the victim's friend and agreed to perform the procedure, police sources said.
The woman gave Mayhew silicone injections and the patient started gurgling and having difficulty breathing, her mother told police.
The frantic mother started performing CPR and told the phony doctor to call 911 — but the suspect grabbed her keys, ran out of the house and drove off in a gray SUV, sources said.
The mother tried to call the friend who set up the procedure but couldn't reach her. Police later found the pal had wiped her social media accounts clean, sources said.
When police got to the house about 6:50 p.m., Emergency Medical Service personnel were already performing CPR on Mayhew. She was rushed to St. John's Hospital, where she died, police said.
The cause of death is being determined. Police are still looking for the suspect.
The mother told police her daughter was healthy and had had five previous plastic surgeries.
It wasn't immediately clear if police had located the friend, who was originally supposed to come to the city with Mayhew but backed out after getting into argument with her, sources said.
