If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. That’s the tried and true approach Wiz Khalifa is taking as he preps his next solo album, O.N.I.F.C. Stopping by 106 and Park to promote his latest joint project, film, and soundtrack album, Mac & Devin Go To High School, with Snoop Dogg, Wiz tells BET.com he’s also laying the ground work on his sophomore LP.
“Yeah I’m working on my second album,” the Pittsburgh MC says of the album, while remaining tight-lipped on the meaning of the title’s acronym. “People should be really excited about it. It’s going to be great music.”
After attaining major chart topping success with his inescapable smash “Black & Yellow,” and the follow up banger “Roll Up” from his certified gold debut album Rolling Papers, Wiz says he’s sticking with the same musical formula that has made him one of the true breakout stars of 2011.
“It’s going to be what everybody expects from me, stuff for everyone,” explains the Taylor Gang leader, who also plans to drop a new mixtape, Taylor Allderdice, prior to the release of the album.
Certainly after spending the last few months on set filming with Snoop, Wiz has taken a few pointers from the rap veteran. The dynamic duo will be spending many more days together as they kicked off The High School Tour at New York City’s Terminal 5 last night, and hit the late night show circuit to perform the soundtrack’s first single “Young, Wild & Free,” featuring Bruno Mars. Young Khalifa says fans can expect more work from the two, as well as others. Fellow stoner rap tandem Method Man and Redman will join Wiz and Snoop on several dates of the High School tour.
“There’s going be more from me and Snoop, and you’ll see us involving a lot more people that the fans love. Me, and Curren$y are going to do something of course too.”
Mac & Devin Go To High School will hit stores December 13.
