Famed Janet Jackson collaborators Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis will curate a free 10-day “Super Bowl Live” music festival in Minneapolis beginning Jan. 26 and leading up to the big game.
“They are the Minnesota sound, so they are making sure the Minnesota sound is represented,” host committee spokeswoman Andrea Mokros explained.
The megaproducers are responsible for the bulk of Jackson’s hits, including “Rhythm Nation,” and her sound was developed in the Twin Cities, which has music insiders buzzing that Janet may hit the stage at the Super Bowl. That would reunite her with Justin Timberlake after their infamous 2004 appearance.
Meanwhile, Jackson has been getting rave reviews on her “State of the World” tour. The pop icon performed in Chicago last week, and spies saw her at Logan Square’s Deadbolt bar with her dancers after the show.
The staff made space for the singer and her group to “let them do their thing.” “They kept people in check and didn’t allow phones and cameras in her face. She kicked it there all night,” a source told us.
Her group included Chicago hip-hop star Chris Cap.
