Whitney Houston & Dionne Warwick Inducted Into New Jersey Hall Of Fame

Whitney Houston and her cousin, singer Dionne Warwick, have joined New Jersey’s Hall of Fame.

Fifteen 2013 inductees were honored Tuesday during a ceremony in Newark.

Houston’s mother, Cissy, accepted the honor on behalf of her daughter, who died in February 2012. The “I’m Your Baby Tonight” songstress was born in Newark and moved with her family to East Orange when she was 4.

Late salsa singer Celia Cruz, who lived in Fort Lee, also was honored. Comedian Joe Piscopo, the “Saturday Night Live” alum who grew up in Passaic, was inducted along with former Gov. Tom Kean and President Grover Cleveland, who died in 1908.

The Web-based New Jersey Hall of Fame doesn’t have a permanent home to call its own. It has operated since 2008.

Buzz Aldrin, Bruce Springsteen, Yogi Berra, John Travolta and Queen Latifah are among those added to the hall in previous years.
